Stirling is one of Scotland’s most historical places, and it was awarded city status in 2002. Perhaps the most famous battle in Scotland’s history was fought near here at Bannockburn in 1314 when Robert the Bruce’s army defeated the English Army to secure Scotland’s independence. It also has close links with William Wallace where he won a famous battle against the English in 1296 in the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Things tp see here are Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument. |
