Gretna Hotels
| Gretna is right on the border of Scotland and England and is perhaps best know for being a wedding destination. This goes back to 1754 in England when an act was passed meaning that a couple under 21 years of age required parental consent to be married, this however did not apply to Scotland and so many couple crossed the border to get married in Scotland without there parents knowledge! The blacksmith shop which was the site of these marriages is still there. |
