With a population of over 50,000 Livingston is the largest town in West Lothian and the 12th largest in the whole of Scotland. Livingston was built as part of the New Towns Act of 1946 to ease overcrowding in Glasgow. The area boasts a excellent shopping centre at Amondvale and a football team called Livingston F.C.
