Peterhead is Aberdeenshire’s largest settlement with a population of around 18,000. Peterhead is known as a fishing area it is the largest white fish port in Europe. Peterhead is often referred to as The Blue Toon which supposedly derives from the blue worsted stockings that the fishermen originally wore.
