Ballater Hotels Ballater is located on the North East coast in Royal Deeside and is well know as a centre for hikers. It has historical royal links with the train station being built in 1866 to accommodate Queen Victoria who purchased the nearby Balmoral Castle in 1852. Nowadays the railway station accommodates the tourist information office after being decommissioned in 1966.
