| With a population of 13,000 sitting at the mouth of the Barry Burn on th east coast of Scotland most people associate Carnoustie with golf. Golf was first recorded to have been played here in 1527 which is 25 years earlier than at St Andrews. It has a championship course in Carnoustie Links and is a frequent venue for the Open championship. |
